Music in Health and
Therapy
GCCMS produces relaxation CD for the health counseling and music therapy field. In 2006, the GCCMS began its musical outreach into the health, psychology, counseling and music therapy fields. GCCMS president Dr. Alma Flick, who is also a highly credentialed clinical social worker and music therapist has teamed up with Mississippi Arts Commission's 2006-2007 Artist Fellowship in Composition award winning composer Ken Davies to produce a CD to assist counseling professionals in the training of relaxation among patients. The CD, The Healing Planets,
is now complete and available from GCCMS at $12.00 each plus $4.00 shipping
per order. GCCMS is a Mississippi 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization
so your donation is tax deductible.

Listen to an mp3
Tap into a wellspring of empowerment that is nurturing to the spirit while relaxing and potentially healing for both body and spirit. This CD takes you on a guided tour of your inner self. The Healing Planets will help you learn to relax with the use of guided imagery narrative and comforting yet engaging music especially designed to bring you to a relaxed state of mind. This CD is easy to listen to. It is designed for those who want to stop the stress race before stress related disease or addiction take hold. Relaxation allows the mind and body to break the adrenalin rush that feeds the stress response in the body and dulls the psyche, causing those symptoms of depression, lack of focus, exhaustion and sleeplessness. This CD is not for mere one-time background listening. It requires your attention and more than one session. Deeper understanding about yourself will likely emerge as you follow a consistent listening ritual and allow yourself to relax, let go of tension and find a safe place within you.
